Job Title: Support Worker
Responsible to: Directly accountable to and taking direction from the employer (Mum)
Hours: 4 hours per week
Hourly Rate of Pay: £12.80
Based at: Employer’s own home in Felixstowe, Suffolk and out in the local community
Job Purpose
The purpose of the job is to support and be a friendly companion to a young boy with who is non-verbal and has learning difficulties. The purpose is to build a trusting, professional relationship with the child and to support him with all his needs. The child is a very sweet boy who is loving, funny and fairly easy-going. He likes affection, lots of energetic activites. He loves people, animals and has no sensory issues. We are looking for someone positive, laid-back and confident.
Main duties:
To support with:
- Personal care e.g. washing, toileting..
- Constant supervision is required at all times.
- Support with all safety aspects.
- To be a social friendly companion to the child
- Assisting with medication
- To support with sensory play
- You will be required to keep him entertained in the home.
- To build a supportive relationship and take part in activities which the child enjoys such as soft play, going to the zoo / park etc.
- To perform such other duties as may reasonably be required.

Personal Specification
• Flexible in the hours and times that you can work.
• Experience with caring for children is essential
• Have a good sense of humour and enjoy a friendly joke.
• You should have a thorough understanding of personal safety.
• Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
• You should have knowledge and understanding of risks.
• Be patient and supportive.
