Strategic Infrastructure delivers major strategic UK electricity transmission projects, focused on connecting more clean, low-carbon power to England and Wales.
As a Senior Civil Engineer, you'll oversee the scoping, development, and technical assurance for new civil assets supporting our growing HVDC technology portfolio. The principal value created by this role is the identification and management of civil engineering opportunities and risks so that the overall business risk profile is suitably managed.
To create value, we need a civil engineering strategy and plan which underpins the quality and timely delivery of a complex onshore and offshore electricity transmission portfolio. The role will be designed to build upon the good work already underway and build our civil engineering capability for the business.
You'll establish consistent ways of working with Asset Operations, JV partners, and OEMs to create and embed world-class engineering practices across our growing portfolio of transmission assets.
This role welcomes applicants UK wide, and we offer hybrid working from office and home. You'll be flexible to regular travel throughout England and Scotland, depending on the project.
Key accountabilities
* Provide technical leadership to the strategic management of civil activities supporting our transmission assets.
* Responsible for the design assurance of HVDC link civil engineering and building services systems from project feasibility through to commissioning for new HVDC electricity links and associated infrastructure.
* Support the development of new high voltage electricity link projects with civils design expertise.
* Ensure that the highest level of standards are maintained in respect of Health, Safety and Environmental / Sustainability issues.
* Identify new technologies, methods, and processes for the delivery of civil engineering and building works to improve safety, quality, and repeatability of civil engineering activities.
* Responsible for the design assurance of consultants and contractors engineering proposals in accordance with recognised British and European standards for civil engineering works.
About you
* Significant experience of the construction process (design, specification, and construction) for new-build civil engineering and building works.
* Experience of interface management of multiple parties to coordinate the design and construction process.
* Project delivery experience on a full range of complex, multi-interface projects.
* Experience of working within HVDC transmission, Energy or Utility sector.
* Broad knowledge of the requirements for safe work under UK legislation, preferably with a nationally accepted safety qualification such as IOSH, NEBOSH.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of gaining a high degree of credibility and influencing teams.
What you'll get
A competitive salary between £65,000 – £80,000 – dependent on capability.
As well as your base salary, you will receive a job requirement car, a bonus of up to 15% of your salary for stretch performance, and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
