Our client is based in Croydon and supports customers in these diverse sectors for the UK and Ireland markets. They develop new build solutions with OEMs and offer full aftermarket support through spare parts supply as well as repair and overhaul services at our local workshop or at the customer location via our highly skilled workshop and field service workforce.

We have a need for two Application Engineers on a permanent full-time contract. This is a permanent home-based and customer site-based position.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Work closely with Customer/OEMs to understand their specific requirements, anticipate their needs, and develop solutions.
2. Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the automotive market, trends, and technologies.
3. Work on joint development projects with other OEMs, including problem-solving, troubleshooting, and technical advice.
4. Responsible for maintaining quality control standards and ensuring that products comply with industry regulations and standards.
5. Assist with the preparation of technical documentation for products including user manuals and technical specifications as required.
6. Provide technical support for sales and commissioning.
7. Project planning of electric drivetrains for commercial vehicles.
8. Carry out feasibility studies for vehicle design based on VEDS modular system.
9. Analyze vehicle data recordings.
10. Test and accept test and prototype vehicles.
11. Commission and accept new vehicles.
12. Ensure excellent and consistent customer service to both external and internal customers.
13. Support implementation of standardized working practices.
14. Assist internal stakeholders in planning future projects.
15. Ensure all documentation is completed in a timely manner.
16. Report developing patterns of failure or areas of concern to Management.
17. Assist in highlighting and planning training requirements.
18. Participate in technical service meetings (on-site and online) with Customers/OEMs.
19. Perform any other duty that is consistent with the role.
20. Act as the first point of contact for customer queries or complaints.
21. Participate in designated projects or company initiatives as requested by line management.
Professional Experience & Education:
1. Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or electrical engineering.
2. Prior experience in field services or engineering/automotive industry.
3. Strong knowledge of commercial automotive systems and components.
4. Knowledge of electrical engineering.
5. Basic understanding of Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow.
6. Proficient in C/C++ programming.
7. Capable of handling Vector CANalyzer and Vector Toolchain.
8. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
9. Ability to work in a team and collaborate with various departments.
Package Details:

3. Monday - Thursday, 8:30am to 16:30pm, Friday 8:30am - 15:30pm (a 36.5-hour working week).
