Job overview
We are recruiting for a Medical Laboratory Assistant - Cellular Pathology who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
Our busy department provides vital diagnostic services to the Trust. Duties will include receipt and labelling of samples, assisting in specimen dissection, inputting pathology requests on a computer system, and supporting the Biomedical Scientists.
The role will involve the handling of pathology tissue samples. Lab experience is essential.
The Laboratory is moving to HSL Laboratory services; this post is NHS and will TUPE over on T&Cs on the 1st March 2025.

Main duties of the job
Responsible for coordination of activities and staffing in the Histopathology specimen reception.
Organise the timely and accurate processing of histology specimens into wax.
Responsible for sample receipt, numbering, and data entry on the computer system.
Support quality control processes.
Participate in day-to-day management of stock control and usage.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Use equipment in a safe manner and report any equipment faults to more senior members of staff.
To work flexibly in reflection of service needs.
