Christmas shutdown. About the Role As Technical Manager, based at Head Office, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise to all Company-Owned Branches, Franchisees and Customers. The continuous development of GreenThumb products, fertilizers and pesticides, to ensure treatments can be carried out all year round, in changing climatic conditions and producing the best outcomes, is the key responsibility of the Technical Manager. Main Responsibilities You will be the guardian of the GreenThumb brand integrity, managing the technical requirements of suppliers and ensuring all products meet the required standards. Ensure quality remains the priority for all products used by Company Owned and Franchise Branches. Launch new products and product improvements on time. As Technical Manager you are responsible for the grass seed blend to ensure that any adjustments are implemented. Learn and conduct experiments on how weather conditions, agriculture, and pests affect lawn quality, to ensure the best possible outcomes and services to the customers. Ensure the Learning and Development Team are up to date with the training needed for Lawn Operatives who treat the lawns. This is also to ensure the application of grass seed is correct. Take soil temperature measurements and collect and log rain fall, to ensure the company has a record of what the conditions are like in St Asaph. Understand the herbicides used by GreenThumb and their efficacy in different parts of the country and weather conditions. Build and maintain strong relationships with our Company Owned Teams and Franchise Partners. Keep knowledge of botany, pest control and weather conditions up to date by using reliable sources. Identify lawn diseases and advise how to treat them correctly. Advise the network on regular treatments and how it will enhance the lawns, the identification of pests and how to control them, along with new products. Build an extensive network of internal and external stakeholders to further enhance GreenThumb’s offering. Keep up to date with the legal requirements of an ever-changing environment relating to the applications of pesticides. Ensure our products are approved for use in the UK for use on lawns and in knapsacks. Respond to enquiries regarding lawn care and treatments from across the network. Collaborate with the health and safety team to ensure the required training has been provided, including safe handling of products, PPE and manual handling. Create new lawn benefit products/ programs to provide our customers with exceptional lawns. Deliver comprehensive trials of new products, equipment and delivery methods for potential use within the business. Write and update Method Statements, detailing how to use our products and equipment, for inclusion in the Operations Manual. Candidate Profile Full UK driving license. Extensive Knowledge of Lawn Care Products. Extensive knowledge of weather conditions, and how they affect lawns. Extensive Knowledge on British animals and plants and how they affect lawns. Experience of working with suppliers ensuring that compliance and quality standards are met. Passionate about delivering continuous improvements to support the business. Excellent planning and organisational skills. Good written and oral interpersonal skills. The ability to manage and motivate employees, encouraging communication and new ideas.
