Projects Coordinator (Maternity Cover)

Salary: £30,000-£34,000 per annum
Brighton College is seeking to appoint a Projects Coordinator as Maternity Cover, until January 2025.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
* Under the guidance of the Head of Estates Capital Projects, manage a defined portfolio of refurb projects (all those delivered by third party contractors; keeping a watching brief on smaller refurbs managed via inhouse service team).
* Form a clear overview of the project planning schedule (what is happening when), with liaison with other key members of staff for impact.
* Work with the Head of Estates Capital Projects, to develop best practice ideas from elsewhere into tangible designs, affordable and of high quality on the ground.
* Supporting the Head of Estates Capital Projects organising key project tasks under direction and with support to keep projects on track.
* Reporting of project progress to stakeholders.
* Contribute to the delivery of the estates capital delivery programme.
* Ensure that sustainable practices are followed when designing, overseeing and delivering projects.
* With support from your line manager, ensure project compliance: Planning permissions, listed planning, building control applications and sign off, fire strategy and regulations and contractor documentation, where required on each project are adhered to.
* Taking an inclusive approach throughout.
* Work with your line manager to develop your learning and development plan, including identifying and making the business case for any relevant training or other opportunities to enable you to perform well in role.
* Any other reasonable management request.
Person Specification:
The successful candidate will have experience in the following areas:
* An understanding of project management principles, construction procedures and materials.
* Knowledge of current construction and safety legislation.
* Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards.
* Outstanding communication and negotiation skills.
* Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
* A collaborative leader and team player
* A confident communicator, taking an active role in project debate.
* An exemplary level of customer service in dealing with all internal and external stakeholders.
* Computer literate and competent in the use of Microsoft software packages and Project Management programmes and Gantt charts.
It is desirable (but not essential) that the successful candidate will have experience in the following areas:
* Experience of working in a project delivery or estates role in one of the following sectors: education, hospitality and hotels, construction, housing or another related sector.
* Ability to demonstrate a full understanding of the Construction, Design and Management Regulations 2015.
* Able to showcase a range of completed projects in the education, hospitality, or similar working environment in the UK or overseas.
* Delivering projects, or in a related project management/co-ordinator role.
* Working on a portfolio of projects, especially internal building refurbishments to time and budget.
* Familiarity with construction/project management software.
Hours of Work:
Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5.00pm with a 60-minute unpaid lunch break (37.5 hours per week).
There may be a requirement to work outside of normal College business hours on occasion.
This is a fixed-term (Maternity Cover) appointment until January 2025.
Remuneration:
A salary in the range of £30,000-£34,000 per annum will be offered depending on experience.
Holidays:
23 days per annum (pro rata), plus bank holidays increasing to 28 days plus bank holidays after
2 years of service (of which 3 days need to be taken between Christmas and New Year when the
College is closed).
