We are the independent charity that loves and looks after six of the most wonderful palaces in the world. The palaces are the setting for the stories that shape us all, and we’re bringing them to people in ways that mean more to them. We want everyone to find themselves in the spaces and stories we share.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced curator of collections to join our team of curators to research, create and deliver the presentation of our palaces and collections, and to produce outstanding content from their stories for all of our audiences. You will work primarily on the Tower of London’s history and collections, including several exciting projects presenting its more recent past. Alongside developing your expertise as a curator, this role requires excellent team-working and management with our specialist teams and external providers.
Representing Historic Royal Palaces (HRP) to the wider world and communicating its stories, you will help develop and publish research into the Tower and its context. You will also manage staff, researchers and consultants, as needed to achieve our objectives.
You will be qualified and have extensive experience as a curator in a museum, gallery or heritage setting with expertise in one or more of the following areas: modern period British and European history, art and/or design history, as well as some familiarity working with inclusive and global histories.
The job requires excellent team skills, supporting other disciplines, cultivating stakeholders and partners, and networking. We also value advocacy for HRP and the curators team, the ability to work comfortably on multiple tasks, and meeting deadlines with success.
You will be a capable and engaging writer, able to work in a range of formats, an effective public speaker with all kinds of audiences, as well as an enthusiastic advocate for the history and collections of the palaces.
