Locum Consultant Plastic Surgeon (Burns and Skin Cancer Surgery)
The Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Burns Surgery is looking to recruit a colleague with an interest in the management of acute burn injuries and subsequent reconstruction. The applicant should also have an interest in the management of skin cancer. The successful candidate will join our current team of fourteen consultants, including five current burn surgeons.
Main Duties of the Job
Duties will be based at Mid Yorkshire Hospital Trust. The main duties of the post will include:
1. Elective theatre lists; day case surgery will take place on the Pinderfields and Pontefract site.
2. Inpatient and burns/trauma operating will take place on the Pinderfields site.
3. General on-call duties will be shared between 10 colleagues (1.4 PAs).
4. Weekdays - Monday to Thursday 1 in 10.
5. Weekends 1 in 18 (with upper limb am support).
6. Burns on-call duties will be shared between colleagues (ultimately 6).
7. 1 in 6 weekdays and weekends (to coincide with weekend PA activity).
8. Consultant will take part in consultant of the week covering general trauma 1 in 10 weeks.
9. Supporting Professional Activities in accordance with the Trust Framework, with at least a minimum of 1.5 SPAs included in the core 10 PA timetable. Additional SPA or DCC time may be commissioned in line with the skills of the successful candidate and changing requirements of the service.
10. Examples may include formal teaching responsibilities or departmental leadership roles.
11. Dedicated office space is provided on the Pinderfields site, with access to IT facilities on peripheral sites.
12. Administrative support is accessible via the Plastic Surgery departmental secretaries.

Person Specification
Management Skills
* Demonstrates intelligent and analytical approach to problem solving.
* Good time management.
* Possess good organisational and personal management skills.
GMC Registration
* Please state full GMC number.
* Full GMC Registration with licence to practise.
* Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Plastics or within 6 months of obtaining CCT (or CESR / equivalent) by date of interview.
Qualifications
* Medical Degree from a recognised medical school.
* FRCA or equivalent.
* Higher qualifications e.g. MD, PhD, MSc, MRCP.
* Audit or Case Presentations.
* Teaching qualification/prize.
Experience
* Sufficient experience at Senior level to be placed on the Specialist Register.
* Fully accredited by college and acceptable to college representative.
* Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in anaesthetics.
* Able to take responsibility for delivering service without direct supervision.
* Ability to work flexibly within a team.
* Specific educational interests and evidence of educational ideas or project work.
* Evidence of ongoing CPD.
