The primary role of a Facilities Maintenance Operative is to optimise property condition and quality and to ensure the buildings are kept in a safe working condition. Facilities Maintenance Operatives need to maintain a high level of quality, providing maximum satisfaction to customers, clients, guests and team. The Facilities Maintenance Operative position will be based at both their Burgess Hill Centre and Portchester Centre. Key duties include: Support the planning, preparation and delivery of facilities maintenance Create a safe working environment by implementing the necessary control measure though the identification, mitigation and reporting of risks and hazards Access and utilize appropriate work plans, job sheets, specifications and information data sheets Maintain tools, equipment, and parts appropriate to the task. Safely isolate electrical, electronic and emergency systems Perform fault diagnosis to implement a range of minor reactive or responsive plumbing and drainage repairs as required Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance and minor repairs Use carpentry skills to complete minor repairs Carry out minor plastering repairs Carry out remedial painting and decorating works Carry out minor tiling, flooring activities and repairs Requirements You will have a basic understanding of the mechanism of buildings including electrical, plumbing, plant, safety systems and equipment. You will provide first and immediate response to fault finding, whilst maximising quality and ensuring cost effectiveness. You will ensure prevention of major damage that could result in extensive costs and minimise reactive intervention. It is essential that you are able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, using digital technologies to access, identify, record and report information, liaise and coordinate with other team members, and provide customer service to internal and external customers, and respecting others.
