MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
The District Business Coordinator plays a crucial role in supporting the financial and operational aspects of the Broome Tioga BOCES Central Business Office. Reporting to the BOCES Director of Business Operations or designated authority, they oversee a team of financial professionals.
Responsibilities include:
1. Analyzing operational procedures and implementing improvements.
2. Managing school financial data.
3. Assisting in the preparation of school district expense and revenue budgets and other budget and finance-related documents.
4. Participating in accounting functions, including federal grants, cash functions, capital project tracking, and other related tasks.
5. Assisting in the development and administration of personnel policies, resolution of employee work-related issues, hiring procedures, and staff evaluation.
6. Developing and monitoring fiscal data, policies, and procedures for school districts.
7. Preparing and compiling data for financial and statistical reports while serving as a liaison between district staff, administration, and Boards of Education.
8. Serving on committees and attending Board of Education meetings as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A) Possession of a Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting or business administration and three (3) years of budgeting, purchasing, or accounting experience, one (1) of which must have been in a supervisory position; OR
B) Possession of an Associate's degree in accounting or business administration and five (5) years of budgeting, purchasing, or accounting experience, one (1) of which must have been in a supervisory position; OR
C) Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma and seven (7) years of experience in a school district that included one or more of the following: accounting duties, budgeting duties, school district financial and/or human resource application support, one of which must have been in a supervisory position; OR
D) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of A), B), and C) above.
* Broome County Civil Service Examination Required
NOTE: Your degree must have been awarded by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education.
