We arelooking for dynamic and motivated Geriatrician Consultants to join our friendlyand dynamic team, to develop and embed high quality care for the frail andolder patient in a number of different clinical settings.
As we expand keyservices and frailty pathways to benefit patients, we are developing andenhancing our service across our sub-specialties, including; Acute Frailty(SDEC), Acute Frailty Units, Frailty Specialist Units, Movement DisorderServices, Ortho-Geri's, Surgical Liaison, Hospital at Home and Outpatientactivity.
Main duties of the job
The basic whole-time contract is for 10 programmedactivities; DCC (7 clinical sessions with PAs admin time and foreducational supervision) + additional SPA. Consideration for part timeworking could be accommodated.
There will be a discussion with candidates regarding thefinal job plan/oncall arrangements, prior to the interview and appointment toensure the job plan reflects both the individuals and organisation goals. Oncalls can be solely in geriatric medicine or potentially GIM depending onpreference.
Additional programmed PAs may be available for additionalactivities and specialist interests if desired. Additional SPA time may beavailable depending on individual and service requirements.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

To undertakeclinical work in conjunction with colleagues and other professional staff inorder to maintain and develop Elderly Care services and to develop specialistskills in accordance with the needs of the department.
Responsibilityin conjunction with colleagues for planning future developments of the service.
Will havecontinuing responsibility for the care of patients in their charge and willbe expected to provide a comprehensive clinical service alongside Consultantcolleagues.

Formanagement purposes and use of resources, accountable to the Clinical Directorof the Medical Directorate and will ensure the effective and efficient use ofresources allocated.
