Job Summary
The post holder will be involved in ensuring that any research undertaken within the University Health Board safeguards the well-being of the research participants, to include patients, staff, and control subjects. This will involve supporting participants through the research pathway, in accordance with the research protocol and relevant legislation. The postholder will support the Assistant Director for R&D and the R&D Manager in meeting the Research and Development Division, Welsh Government Key Performance Indicators and Metrics.
Main Duties of the Job
Working as part of a well-established team, the post holder will be involved in ensuring that any research undertaken within the University Health Board safeguards the well-being of the research participants. The post holder will support the set up and delivery of research across the UHB.
Responsibilities
1. Identify and screen study participants in accordance with the research protocol.
2. Provide specialist advice and guidance on the research process to potential participants.
3. Take informed consent from study participants, in line with ICH Good Clinical Practice guidelines.
4. Support patients through the research pathway for approved commercial and non-commercial research projects.
5. Assess feasibility, study set-up, support, coordination, and operational management of research studies.
6. Undertake clinical procedures (e.g., phlebotomy, questionnaire completion) on research participants as required.
Person Specification
Qualifications/Knowledge
* Essential: UK NMC registration; Specialist knowledge of Research legislation, GCP, and National Framework.
* Desirable: Certificate in ICH Good Clinical Practice.
Skills
* Essential: Excellent communication skills, both verbal/written; Excellent attention to detail.
* Desirable: Data analysis and interpretation; Project management.
Experience
* Essential: Experience of working at a Band 5 (or equivalent level) in a health research setting with service user/carer contact.
* Desirable: Experience of clinical interviewing.
