A great opportunity to join an established payroll department. This newly created opening is due to growth and an increasing workload within the department.
In this varied role, you will be working within a small, busy team, running multiple payrolls for a wide range of clients who operate in a variety of sectors.
We are working with a top regional Firm of Chartered Accountants who have a newly created Payroll opportunity in their Bury St Edmund's office.
This is a role with real scope to further develop your existing payroll skills. If appointed at Assistant Manager grade, you will also be assisting and supervising junior staff within the team, on behalf of the department manager.
Responsibilities will include:
1. End to end payroll processing for a range of clients
2. Direct client contact
3. Payroll query resolution
4. Deadline management
5. Assisting & supervising junior staff (Assistant Manager grade only)
6. Able to work in an accurate, diligent and methodical manner with excellent attention to detail
7. Able to manage multiple priorities at the same time
8. Competent in use of IT, especially MS Office (Word, Excel)
9. High level understanding and practical application of all areas of end-to-end payroll (minimum 2 years for Senior, 3 years for Assistant Manager) including:
10. Auto-enrolment pensions
11. Statutory payments
12. Holiday pay legislation
13. HMRC and RTI legislation
14. Director's payments
15. Clear and effective communication skills - telephone, letter and e-mail writing
16. Good oral communication skills in order to speak with a wide range of internal and external contacts
17. Self-motivated and able to work without supervision, whilst also working well within a team environment
18. Positive approach to problem solving
19. Confident when interacting with clients and third parties
20. Flexible and adaptable
21. Ability to judge and identify situations to bring to manager attention
22. Able to keep sensitive information confidential
23. Full UK driving licence and own transport
