Purpose of the Role: As Planner you will develop, update and manage the construction programmes to support on time delivery. What will you be doing? You will; Participate in creating a knowingly safe working environment. Updating and maintain the Cl32 Programmes along with the different delivery functions in assurance of providing a robust and realistic schedule that reflects the risk and opportunity that could impact key project milestones Review and develop the preferred construction sequence considering project wide constraints to confirm the duration in the overall scheme schedule Facilitate construction readiness planning Arrange, facilitate and provide output from client and supply chain collaborative planning sessions If required, prepare and support Time Location charts using Tilos If required, cost load the schedule If required, generate Earned Value Analysis from the cost loaded schedule Produce programme metrics Monthly updating of the schedule and reports Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to produce short term programmes. Update and analyse the schedule based on the effects of Compensation events or other events which may affect the programme. Liaise with subcontractors and assess their programme submissions for acceptance About you We are looking for passion and a commitment for delivering excellence. A solid track record of planning major civils projects in a highways and public realm setting is essential. You’ll need experience of working in the contracting environment with the ability to build programmes from scratch in an independent manner but working within a team and report using P6. The ideal candidate will have progressed from a site engineering background so understands first hand how jobs are built. As a planner we expect the candidate to be a team player and self sufficient when required. Person Specification – to effectively undertake this role you will need the following: Competency Requirements A working knowledge of construction planning through job experience or training Contractual awareness specially in NEC Understanding of temporary works. Strong problem-solving skills Good attention to detail Verbal and written communication skills Able to work as part of a project team Confidently able to communicate programmes with both internal and external stakeholders. Aware of individual Health and Safety responsibilities and adheres to company health and safety policy and procedures Able to demonstrate alignment and work in line with the Galliford Try values - Excellence, Passion, Integrity and Collaboration Good organisational and negotiation skills Ability to prioritise activities in a challenging environment. Able to develop ideas and present them concisely Technical / Professional Qualifications Required Previous relevant business experience or transferable skills gained in other areas Fully conversant with the Microsoft suite of packages. Equivalent of Level 3 NVQ or Certificate Level qualification, Degree preferable. Familiar with computer-based planning software: Primavera P6 mandatory, ideally MSP and Asta PowerProject Willingness to undertake relevant professional qualifications Ideally experience of projects across a wide range of civil engineering sectors. Ideally knowledge of different forms of construction methodologies.
