Description
As Head of Data Governance, you will lead our Data team through an exciting phase of growth to develop and operationalise a new Data Governance framework. Playing an integral role in embedding structure in the management of Data, you will establish good practice within the team in terms of Data Ownership, Data Assets, Data Quality, and Data Lineage. As an excellent relationship-builder, you will build trust in our Data to successfully inform planning and decision-making across the business.
Please note this opportunity offers home-based working but will require occasional travel to our offices.
Key Responsibilities
1. Establishing the Data Governance strategy to achieve business goals and outcomes.
2. Defining and evolving the Data Governance framework whilst balancing pragmatism, practicality, and effective control mechanisms.
3. Building a business-savvy team that strives to continually improve efficiency, effectiveness, and value.
4. Embedding culture and methods of Data Governance through designing processes, working practices, and behaviours to bring transparency and auditability to all data processes.
5. Collaborating with internal departments including Digital Services, to create highly functioning processes, building high-output and performance and executing this with high levels of agility.
6. Providing training to Data Owners and Stewards to support accountability frameworks within policies.
7. Guiding, mentoring, and collaborating with other Data teams to support development and continuous improvement, and ensuring principles are adopted in ways of working.
8. Working closely with the Data Protection Officer (DPO) to ensure adherence to both data protection regulation and agreed principles.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
1. Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP/DAMA). (Desirable)
2. Demonstrable experience in Data Governance, Quality Management, and Regulatory Compliance within a financial or regulated industry.
3. Expertise in UK GDPR, Data Protection Act, and SRA guidelines.
4. Proven experience in defining, designing, and implementing policies, standards, guidelines, tools, metrics, and standards for data management and governance frameworks.
5. Strong understanding in Data Management concepts including Data Quality Management, Metadata Management and tools, and Data Architecture and technology.
6. A natural leader with the ability to build consensus, guide culture change, and foster collaboration.
