We are looking for someone who will be fundamental in meeting the Legal Team’s vision to support the Council in acting lawfully and with high standards of governance to achieve its corporate objectives for the local community. We seek an enthusiastic team player who can contribute to the wider delivery of the Council’s corporate plan. In this role, you will support stakeholders by providing specialist legal advice, representation, and assistance across a range of planning, property, and procurement matters. We are excited about this role and would very much like to welcome you to Broxtowe Borough Council.
We’re looking for an individual who has experience in:
* Planning law (drafting planning enforcement notices, providing planning advice, attending planning committees monthly)
* Commercial property matters (acquisitions, sales, commercial leases)
* Local government experience is desirable, but we welcome applications from all parts of the legal sector
* The successful candidate must be a qualified Solicitor/Barrister/FILEX with a current Practising Certificate

* Able to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, with officers internally and externally with courts, barristers, professional bodies, stakeholders, and members of the public
* Self-motivated with the ability to handle a large and varied complex caseload

What you need to know:
A requirement for this role is to attend the Council’s Planning Committee meeting each month.
Successfully shortlisted candidates will be asked to attend a formal interview, which may include a test/scenario/exercise to determine suitability for the role.
