Technique Recruitment Solutions are a specialist Engineering & Manufacturing recruitment company based in Norfolk and have a permanent role for an expanding business who are looking for a full-time Electrical Control Panel & Switchgear Engineer to work in our workshops, both on and offshore within the UK and occasionally overseas.
The successful applicant will be involved in all aspects from:

Background
We manufacture both low and medium voltage motor control centres (MCCs) and distribution switchgear for the oil and gas, petrochemical, food, and defence industries in Norwich. The equipment is rated at voltages from 400V to 11,000V with current ratings up to 6300A and utilising circuit breakers, switches, and other components manufactured by Schneider, Siemens, and ABB. The company also services and modifies existing client's switchgear manufactured by others such as GEC and specialises in Laurence Scott & Electromotors, Centaur & Slendaur motor starter products.
Main Purpose
To manufacture, install, commission, modify, maintain, and test electrical motor control centres (MCCs) and distribution switchboards in our workshops and on customer's sites within the UK, offshore, and overseas.
Duties & Responsibilities
Work as part of a team and be able to take and give instructions. Work to method statements and risk assessments specifically created for the task. Be able to offload, move into position, and install control panels on customer sites. Carry out commissioning activities on motor starter panels, including variable speed drives, intelligent motor starters, and electronic protection relays such as Schneider Easergy, Micom, etc. Perform functional tests to schematic diagrams, fault finding, current injection, voltage application, insulation resistance, and high voltage pressure testing. Conduct resistance measurement of joints (Ductoring). Have excellent control panel wiring skills that involve both looming and wiring in trunking. Have excellent fitting skills for marking off, cutting, and drilling. Be able to think logically and assist in the design and layout of compartments for ease of manufacture and wiring. Be able to travel worldwide at short notice. Co-operate with the employer on all health and safety matters. Use and maintain any PPE provided for your safety and others. Report back to your supervisor with the status of the work and any health and safety concerns. Complete timesheets, expenses forms, and visit reports in a timely manner. Protect and maintain your local and global environment. Perform any other task as deemed necessary by your supervisor/manager.
Requirements
Electrical qualification such as an HNC, HND, or NVQ in Electrotechnology, Mechatronics, or equivalent. Previous experience in primary and secondary injection of thermal and electronic protection relays. Setting up and commissioning variable speed drives, electronic motor controllers such as Siemens Simocode, etc. Maintain a valid driving licence. Maintain a valid passport. Pass an annual medical, OGUK. Pass a four-yearly offshore survival course (BOSIET or FOET).
