Deputy Head of Patient Safety and Quality Assurance

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will support the Clinical Board and Directorate Management teams, and work closely with clinical teams, supporting them to deliver their patient safety priorities. A large part of the role will be ensuring that learning and improvements occur from patient safety incidents with the aim of reducing future risk and helping make care safer, whilst ensuring that patients, their families, and staff are supported.
The post holder will also lead the Clinical Audit and Quality Assurance team, focusing on learning and improving from local and national audits and NICE guidance. They will provide a senior manager lead for clinical risk and patient safety across the UHB, offering support and guidance to all levels of staff working within the organisation.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Educated to masters level or equivalent level of knowledge and experience. Evidence of recent personal development at senior management level. Relevant professional qualification.
* Project Management e.g. PRINCE 2 or similar. Coaching qualification or experience. Improvement science qualification e.g. IQT Silver.
Experience
* Demonstrable experience in the management and successful, quantifiable delivery of improvement programmes using QI methodology.
* Significant experience of working at a senior level in a large, complex organisation.
* Experience of delivering training.
* Experience of partnership working and stakeholder management.
* Significant experience of working at a senior level within the NHS or related organisation.
* Experience of working within a corporate environment.
* Proven track record of delivering improvements in line with organisational strategy.
* Experience of writing or contributing to large public-facing documents.
* Experience of analysing data to support and deliver quality improvement e.g. run charts, SPC, Pareto.
