Backhouse Solicitors Ltd is an SME fast growing firm in Essex. We pride ourselves in the quality of legal advice and service levels we offer our clients. This role will be to help take Backhouse Solicitors Ltd to the next stage while maintaining the core of their business.
A bit about the role
As the Operations Manager, you are the central point within the firm and in this role, you are expected to co-ordinate existing internal functions and processes as well as initiate and manage future systems to embrace our rapid growth.
Responsibilities
Working alongside the Leadership team, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:-
* Contribute to the company strategy in the services provided by the firm to ensure that the company achieves its short and long-term objectives.
* Direct and oversee operations staff to ensure that they are motivated and trained to carry out their responsibilities to the required standard.
* Ensure that the legal staff are motivated and trained to deliver the service level expected by the company.
* Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure that core operational functions achieve their business objectives.
* Develop and control operational budgets to promote profitability and ensure the company has all the resources required to meet its objectives within agreed financial parameters.
* Direct and control services to ensure that the staff can deliver the quality legal advice to the required standard to customers within agreed costs and at the right times.
* Develop all necessary policies and procedures to ensure safe and healthy working environments across all company locations.
* Maintain working relationships with all other directors/leadership team to ensure effective co-ordination of all company activities in support of corporate objectives.
* Evaluate overall company performance by gathering, analysing and interpreting data and metrics.
* Act as the company’s main adviser on all issues relating to operational functions and keep abreast of latest developments to ensure that the company maintains its competitive position.
* Develop and implement efficient processes for the legal department to manage operations and reduce costs.
* Manage technologies, including document management systems and legal research tools.
* Coordinate with other departments to ensure compliance with internal policies and legal requirements.
* Oversee the budget of the legal department, including tracking and analysing expenditures.
* Work with the leadership team to develop and manage the projects (systems, IT, staffing, new offices etc) to help the business grow to the next level (from 60 staff to 100+ staff and beyond)

* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, law, or a related field.
* Experience in legal operations, legal administration, or a related field.
* Strong understanding of latest technology including legal software and case management systems
* Excellent organisational and project management skills.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal technology applications
