Post: Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist (Band 7 Equivalent) at Cygnet Bostall House
Responsible for:
* 6 service users
* Supervision of an OTA
Salary: £ 22,573 per annum
Base: LD/ ASD ward, Cygnet Bostall House, Bostall Heath, Knee Hill Road, Abbey Wood, SE2 0AT.
Hours: Part-time time (16 hours/ 2 days per week)

Summary of the site
Cygnet Bostall House is a 6 bedded hospital on a spacious detached property, surrounded by beautiful parks and gardens in the heart of Abbey Wood, London. Individuals have a choice of lounges and communal areas to relax in, an activities of daily living (ADL) kitchen, as well as the benefit of 2 large gardens.
When an individual comes to Cygnet Bostall House, we find out how they would like to personalise their room and we support them to make it their own. We also like to find out what they like to do and what interests them. Service users are supported to plan menus, shop and prepare food to increase their daily living skills in readiness for moving on.
Locally there is a large and varied choice of community activities, including bowling, gyms, cafés and shops. For more variety in activities, central London is only half an hour away by train. Individuals are also supported to access education at local colleges and have paid or voluntary work placements to increase their independence.
Clinical: You and your team will be responsible for the assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction for 6 people. You will work with a full multidisciplinary team (on site) in a coordinated way to support each service user develop their skills and move through our clinical model of care from admission to discharge.
As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will provide assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction. You will promote the importance of enabling people to do the things they want, need or are expected to do to support them being well in life.
Leadership: You would report directly to the Regional Lead Occupational Therapist. You would also hold leadership and management responsibilities of the Occupational Therapy service, providing supervision for the Occupational Therapy Assistant at Bostall House. You will be required to share leadership responsibility and consistently contribute to the site wide Occupational Therapy provision.
This role includes opportunities for learning, development and research, supported by a robust appraisal and supervision structure based on RCOT’s Career Development Framework. At Cygnet Healthcare, we have a strong occupational focus through support and direction from Clinical Leads, Regional Leads and our Occupational Therapy Directors. We use evidence-based practice within each of our service lines, as defined by our clinical steering groups, of which Occupational Therapists play a key role.
Occupational Therapy Directorate
Under the leadership of our occupational therapy directors we support over 150 Occupational Therapists. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development.
Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and agreed occupational therapy pathway.
We ensure our occupational therapists have a voice through participating in service model development, utilising the expertise and support of our clinical lead occupational therapists.
