This Ofsted rated Outstanding school in Carterton has more students diagnosed with Autism. Many of these children also have co-existing issues such as SEMH needs.
The Carterton school needs a Youth Mental Health Worker to support their students in day-to-day activities.
The SEN students attending this school are between the ages of 4 and 11. Each child has a personalised EHCP and individual intervention plans designed to help them thrive. As a Youth Mental Health Worker, you will ensure that they can complete their academic work while also helping them navigate their emotions. You will also help them learn functional life skills, encouraging independence.
What you can expect as a Youth Mental Health Worker:
1. Deliver specific interventions designed for the Carterton students, with their needs and goals in mind.
2. De-escalate any meltdowns and behaviour that may occur.
3. Help the children work through their big emotions.
4. Create a safe and engaging learning environment.
Qualities you need to be a successful Youth Mental Health Worker:
1. Previous proven track record for supporting EYFS, KS1, KS2 students in Learning Support Assistant/Teaching Assistant or similar roles.
2. Determined to make a difference.
3. Proactive.
4. Understanding of the importance of safeguarding.
People who would benefit from this role include psychology graduates as well as those with backgrounds in sport, art, drama, or music.
