Applicants are expected to have a wide experience in all aspects of adult critical care, dealing with patients following cardiac surgery, heart and lung transplantation and mechanical circulatory support devices (including VADs and ECMO), thoracic surgery and interventional cardiology. In addition to holding full GMC registration and FFICM (or equivalent), the successful candidate will be in possession of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) including intensive care medicine or within 6 months of possession at the time of interview. A minimum of two years of experience in adult cardiothoracic intensive care at Registrar or Consultant level is essential, as is experience in echocardiography. A higher degree would be desirable as is experience in research, teaching or training.
