The Directorate of Perioperative Medicine is going through some exciting changes to support the highest quality of care to our patients and we want you on our team. This is an exciting time to join Wirral University Teaching Hospital.
This post is open to both NMC registered Nurses and HCPC registered Operating Department Practitioners. We are looking for a highly motivated, passionate health care professional who possesses excellent interpersonal communication skills, the ability to motivate and negotiate and is passionate about perioperative care.
Main duties of the job
Wirral University Teaching Hospital is seeking to recruit perioperative leaders of the future to join the directorate of perioperative medicine leadership team. Our 22 operating theatres are across three sites delivering a wide variety of specialism to patients of the Wirral Peninsula and beyond.
We are looking to find motivated, experienced ODPs/Nurses who want to develop into the next leaders. The Senior Theatre Nurse/ODP will provide visible leadership within the clinical area of responsibility and wider teams supporting the patients' perioperative pathway.

* Role specific knowledge of the clinical area (Anaesthetic Support, Surgery & post-operative care)
* Ability to document patient information in a variety of methods including paper and electronic records
* Ability to lead a team

* Ability to prioritise workload under pressure
* Change Agent with evidence of leading change
Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training
* Registered Nurse (RN) or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with professional registration (NMC/HCPC registration)
* Post registration qualification in specialists theatre area (Anaesthetics, Surgery, Recovery) or work based experience specific to role requirements
* Healthcare related degree (or working towards)
* Mentorship in Clinical Practice
* Knowledge of current National and local legislations including NHS operational plans
* Advanced Paediatric Life Support or Paediatric life support course (APLS/PLS)
* Advanced Life Support/Immediate Life Support Qualification (ALS/ILS)
* Leadership Qualification (ILM/Degree module/NHS Leadership Academy)
