Job Summary:
The Home Care Assistant is responsible for providing personal care and assistance to clients in their homes in UK (United Kingdom). The role includes aiding with daily living activities, promoting client independence, and ensuring a safe, clean, and supportive living environment.
Responsibilities:
* Observe and track the patient’s physical and mental health, including intake and output, exercise, and overall condition.
* Assist with housekeeping, laundry, food shopping, preparing and serving meals, and running errands to support the patient’s daily needs.
* Provide hands-on personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and other hygiene tasks.
* Helps patients with self-care techniques, such as using a cane or walker, special eating utensils, or specific hygiene equipment.
* Teach family members how to safely lift, turn, and reposition the patient to prevent injury and promote comfort.
* Advises on proper nutrition, cleanliness, and household upkeep to support the patient’s well-being.
* Keep accurate records in the patient journal, noting any changes or unusual conditions, and notifies the nursing supervisor of significant updates.
* Maintain a clean, secure, and healthy environment for the patient, following infection control practices, safety protocols, and dietary requirements.
* Adhere to home care policies, professional standards, and local, state, and federal regulations to protect the home care agency and ensure quality care.
* Demonstrate a proactive attitude by accepting new tasks, exploring innovative ways to improve service delivery, and consistently striving to add value to the role.
Required Qualifications:
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Previous experience in home care, healthcare, or a similar field is preferred.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Compassionate, patient, and empathetic nature.
* Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
* Valid four-wheeler driver’s license
* Certification in CPR or First Aid may be required.
