Are you passionate about Paediatric emergency care and medical education? We have an exciting opportunity for a Paediatric Emergency Department clinical educator to come and join our dynamic Emergency Care teams at GHH and BHH hospitals.
The Band 7 Paediatric Senior Educator using acquired specialist knowledge and skills will lead the coordination, development and implementation of quality assured training that meets the needs of the paediatric patients, service, individual staff members and multi-disciplinary teams working within the UHB Paediatric Emergency Departments.
The post holder will contribute to the development of the trust wide paediatric education portfolio, working collaboratively with the Lead Nurse for CYP Workforce and Education for CDG3, Emergency Department Nursing teams and the School of Nursing.
The post holder will be expected to work with a minimum of supervision and to co-ordinate his/her activities independently. The department operates across both trust sites and the team will be expected to travel to different locations, where their role requires them to do so.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to work with a minimum of supervision and to coordinate his/her activities in order to support the wider clinical education service in relation to paediatric education in ensuring that an efficient and resilient service is provided to the trust.
The post holder will be responsible for assisting in the planning, organising and implementing of specific paediatric training of all new and existing staff employed by the Trust and wider community services and supporting clinical services within the trust.
The post holder will be expected to coordinate his/her activities in order to effectively manage his/her own workload, time, clinical and operational responsibilities.
The department operates across all trust sites and the team will be expected to travel to different locations, where their role requires them to do so.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
* NMC Registered Nurse Child Branch
* Maintained relevant CPD activity of essential hours in the past 3 years
* Paediatric High Dependency Course
* Additional professional development and leadership activities
* Emergency Medicine courses/competencies
Experience Essential
* Minimum 3 years acute paediatric nursing experience.
* Current knowledge and skills within paediatric high dependency care
* Current clinical exposure to the resuscitation and deterioration of children
* Current knowledge and ability to use common paediatric medical devices
* Experience with design, delivery and assessment of clinical skills
* Experience with the design and delivery of simulation training
* Basic knowledge and understanding of human factors and ergonomics
* Experience of leading a small team
* Experience with supporting staff with disabilities
* Experience with performance management
* Experience with supporting all learning including Pre Registration Students
Additional Criteria Essential
* Demonstrate leadership qualities clinically and as required to lead on projects
* Clinically credible within their role and demonstrates an ability to work with a multitude of front-line staff, working within your scope of practice
* Ability to demonstrate a sound understanding of clinical skills to include IV therapy, use of central lines, POCT and to develop further skills as required.
