Job Summary
Liverpool University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust wishes to appoint a Consultant Hepatologist as part of a planned expansion of consultant and non-medical workforce. This is an opportunity to join a forward-thinking, dynamic, and cohesive team.
The person appointed will be initially based at Aintree Hospital and will be a member of the Gastroenterology Department.
Applicants are required to hold Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) or equivalent qualifications; to be fully registered with the General Medical Council with a licence to practise and listed on the Specialist Register, or due to be registered within six months of the date of appointment.
Main Duties of the Job
The Appointee, together with his or her colleagues, will have a commitment to the provision of Hepatology. The majority of work will be specialist hepatology incorporating the appointee's desired subspecialty interest.
Ward cover is provided on a rotational basis when the Consultants take part in 'hot' weeks for 2 weeks at a time. The successful candidate will also cover outpatient and endoscopy sessions.
A specific interest in Autoimmune Liver Diseases will be welcomed, but all subspecialty interests are encouraged. The expectation is to provide a 1:11 on-call commitment and out-of-hours cover.

Essential
* GMC Registration
* MB BS or MB ChB
* MRCP
* CCT or within 6 months of CCT
Desirable
* Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians
* Higher degree such as MD or PhD
Experience
Essential
* Wide experience in gastroenterology
* Evidence of continuing medical education
* Competence in endoscopic management of GI bleeds
* Competence in colonoscopy - JAG accreditation or equivalent
Desirable
* Significant training or experience of managing patients with IBD
* Significant training or experience of managing patients with complex nutritional problems
Audit / Research
Essential
* Experience of significant contribution to audit
Desirable
* Formal research experience
