Job Overview TE Connectivity's Manufacturing and Process Development Engineering Teams significantly impact LEANPD driven new product development projects, driving for excellence in existing manufacturing technologies and methods and striving to implement new manufacturing technologies to provide improved process and tolerance control. They act as the binding element between product development and manufacturing engineering, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of this critical interface. They support Product Development in the optimization of designs and piece parts for manufacturability by realizing sample tooling/products/prototypes. They also design, develop, and qualify tooling and processes to meet TE quality and production standards, document all processes and tooling in applicable TE systems, support supply chain to verify supplier compliance and capability, initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, cost and cycle time and adhere to all appropriate specifications, regulatory requirements and customer requirements. We are currently looking for a highly motivated Product Manufacturing Technician to join our Advanced System Architecture (ASA) team in the Aerospace Defence and Marine (AD&M) business unit. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a group of subject matter experts who understand customer architecture and TE capabilities to support our customers with concepts, prototyping, scale-up, and testing. The role is crucial in the early phase of development for the next-generation W&C and heat shrink products in AD&M. As a Product Manufacturing Technician, you will apply your knowledge of polymers in developing and testing polymer compounds. You will assess safety in the workplace and recommend process improvements. In this role, you will operate various polymer processing equipment, including an intermix, extruder, and injection molding machine. You will also conduct product testing and write procedures while maintaining quality systems like 5S1. Ensuring safety through good housekeeping and adherence to procedures is essential. Qualifications & specialist training required: To fulfil the role of Product Manufacturing Technician, you should have a National Diploma in a scientific or engineering discipline with at least 1 year of industrial experience, ideally in a polymer production /manufacturing industry. Key tasks of the job: - Provide polymer processing and testing expertise and apply this to a range of polymer compounding and downstream processes, e.g. extrusion, expansion, moulding, and crosslinking. - Drive multiple polymer processing activities, organise experiments (DOE), testing, data collection and analysis. - Interpretation of specifications and utilisation of Voice of Customer (VoC). - Work across business units to leverage expertise and engage with the new product development team, Product managers and Operations team to ensure project goals are met. - Deliver technical reviews and updates to all stakeholders on progress and future activities - Work with internal and external factory-led engineering to bring successful technology to large-scale manufacturing for new materials/compounds What your background should look like: Qualifications and Experience required: - A solid understanding of polymer materials processing. - Practical hands-on skills in both compounding and extrusion of polymeric materials. - Strong analytical techniques with the ability to make data-driven decisions using Six Sigma methodology. - Practical experience of literature searches in technology areas. - Extensive computer literacy and knowledge of experimental design. - Experienced in technical report writing as well as writing and developing work instructions and standard operating procedures. - Ability to train new processes and techniques for both peers and colleagues. - Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work cross-functionally and across business units - Strong communication skills at all levels. - Focus on time to market and product cost. - Strong organisational skills.
