About the Team:
This role will be based within Warwickshire’s Children in Care Permanency Team who are predominantly based in Bedworth but offer a County-wide service to all Children in Care who have a plan of permanency across Warwickshire and those who may be placed further away from home. About the Role:
We are recruiting for the role of Post-Adoption and Special Guardianship Family Connections Social Worker to be based within our Children in Care Permanency Team covering Warwickshire on a permanent full time basis.
* You will be responsible for providing specialist social work support to children, adoptive parents, special guardians, and birth family/networks in maintaining and managing Family Time (previously contact) arrangements post-adoption and post-special guardianship orders (SGOs). This role will ensure that all Family Time is in the child’s best interests, promoting their identity development and longer term wellbeing.
* You will risk-assess and coordinate safe, meaningful, and appropriate a variety of forms of direct and indirect contact between children, birth families, adoptive parents, and special guardians, providing guidance, emotional support and mediation to all parties involved, helping them navigate the complex dynamics at play.
* You will monitor and review arrangements to identify any safeguarding concerns or changes in circumstances, working closely with Social Workers in other teams and other professionals to support families effectively.
* You will design and deliver training, workshops, and/or one-to-one sessions for professionals, adoptive parents and special guardians to support positive attitudes towards maintaining meaningful relationships post-Order.
* You will attend Family Time sessions where assessed as appropriate to support the positive development of relationships and role model play and attuned parenting in order to ensure that this is a positive experience for all in attendance.
Key Requirements:
This role is County-wide so there will be some travelling within Warwickshire and also beyond Warwickshire to children and young people placed further afield.
This role will be primarily undertaken within office hours however agile working will be required, with some evening and weekend work depending on the needs of families.
Applicants for the role will need a professional Social Work qualification and Social Work England Registration.
