The Design Engineer Role requires team players with experience, skills, and knowledge in mechanical engineering and CAD 3D and 2D. The role requires operating to high quality/workmanship standards within a world class manufacturing team and facility. Responsibilities and Duties: To provide support to all operational processes in the development of and maintaining of Jigs and fixture Design systems and procedures in line with Niftylift Standards. Provide leadership and facilitation of the Jig and fixture design and prove out process for both new and existing products, to ensure jigs are capable of producing product/parts to drawing. Provide detailed information to Product Design Engineers at MK to enable the change of design of components to improve jigs and fixture fit up and design for automation. Project manage the design, manufacture, commissioning and prove out of jigs and fixtures into production, following the 8 stage gate & validation process. Provide procedures for the calibration and maintenance of Jigs and fixtures, both existing and new Experience: Degree level mechanical engineer (HND may be considered) 3D and 2D CAD experience (preferably CREO or equivalent) Design bias background with jigs and fixture development and control Previous fabrication product design experience desirable Experience of Automated, Semi-automated and manual manufacturing process experience Cutting: Laser, Plasma, Waterjet etc. Pressing and cold forming CNC Machining (Milling and Lathe) EDM Surface grinding and cylindrical grinding Automated welding Fabrication Assembly Responsibilities and Duties: Attend Stakeholder meetings for the production areas assigned as your responsibility, provide timely feedback and complete actions to agreed time scales Lead and facilitate the design, manufacture and implementation of new jigs and fixtures Liaising with Design and Project Engineers Niftylift MK or external resources to ensure design controls are developed and maintained to Niftylift Standards Design jigs, fixtures and bespoke equipment in a cost effective manner without losing quality and robustness. Create BOM's for all designs and machine user manuals Develop and maintain Jigs and fixture designs, models, 2D drawings, calibration requirements etc. to Niftylift Standards Lead and facilitate jigs and fixture design projects to deliver jigs/fixtures on time to agreed targets Lead and facilitate projects being supported by external design/manufacturing services, where those services are contracted to Niftylift. Liaise and support where agreed with external services providing an turnkey package for new process/ equipment installations Liaise with Design Engineers at MK to drive improvements identified from design for manufacture activities following Niftylift Standard Engineering Change Process Where Jig and fixture improvements ideas are proposed which are or are not accepted ensure a full record is developed and maintained to build up a history of the jigs/fixtures Working Hours & Salary: 7:30 - 4:30 Mon - Thurs 7:30 - 1:30 Friday Offering a competitive salary Pay & Benefits: Annual bonus (for indication only) based on recent average £500 per annum. 25 days holiday (increases with service, up to 30 days), plus bank holidays.
