Role: Facilities Operative Location: Trust Head Office Start Date: ASAP Hours: Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week all year around Salary: Grade 6 Scale point 18 - 22 £29,269 - £31,364 About the Role We are seeking an experienced and skilled Facilities Operative to join our Estates team, responsible for overseeing the maintenance of multiple schools within our Trust. You will manage a team of maintenance staff, ensuring that repairs and maintenance work are completed efficiently and to a high standard. This role will involve responding to maintenance requests, diagnosing and fixing faults, coordinating with contractors, and ensuring compliance with Health and Safety regulations. Key Responsibilities Carry out repairs and maintenance work across occupied schools Ensure all Health and Safety standards are met, and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times Mentor and coach apprentices and colleagues when required Respond to breakdowns, diagnosing faults, and implementing repairs in a timely and cost-effective manner Manage maintenance team with Pirana reactive work orders Coordinate with subcontractors, obtaining quotations, and overseeing project work from inception to completion Perform planned preventative maintenance and propose condition-funded projects Ensure first-time fixes where possible and work to reduce costs Report building issues to the helpdesk and assist with locking/unlocking of schools for projects Assist in adverse weather conditions with gritting paths and snow clearance Develop positive relationships with all schools in the Trust Qualifications and Skills Required Proficient in various trades, with a solid understanding of building maintenance Health and Safety knowledge, including working from heights, manual handling, and asbestos awareness Strong leadership and team management skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering prompt and effective solutions Willingness to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying conditions Flexibility to undergo additional training related to the role If you're a proactive and experienced maintenance professional, ready to lead a dedicated team and ensure our schools are safe, secure, and well-maintained, we would love to hear from you.
