You'll be joining an independent, mid-sized organisation that supplies goods and materials to a wide range of infrastructure projects. Over the past 5 years, the company has seen turnover quadruple, with plans to grow by 20% year-on-year. With this in mind, they are looking to continue the emphasis on efficient procurement and are now looking to recruit an Assistant Buyer into their team.
Your new role
In this role, you will work closely with the Buyer to maintain the company's inventory, replenishment of stock in line with sales forecasts and drive cost saving initiatives by negotiating and influencing suppliers. This is a great opportunity for a candidate with 1-2 years' experience in a Buyer role, looking to join an organisation with huge growth potential.
The aim will be for you to progress to a Buyer within the first year of employment, with CIPS development opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist the Buyer with generating purchase orders, monitoring lead times, and managing delivery schedules.
* Liaise with suppliers, internal sales teams, and the production planner to address and resolve any supply chain issues.
* Coordinate and monitor the transfer of stock across various locations.
* Help build and maintain strong supplier relationships. Evaluate performance and costs, and assist the buyer with price negotiations and supplier selection.
* Track international shipments, ensuring the freight agent has the necessary customs paperwork and that the finance team is informed of all incoming goods.
* Stay informed about industry trends, sales, and marketing strategies.
* Analyse data to make necessary forecasting adjustments.
* Keep an accurate stock item list, ensuring accuracy and costs
* Regularly update databases, systems and spreadsheets when required
What you'll need to succeed
* 1-2 years experience in a Junior Buyer, Procurement or Supply Chain role
* Strong attention to detail, organisational and time management skills
* A drive to develop your career in Procurement further
* Confident communicator with internal stakeholders and external suppliers
* Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel.
* Previous experience using an MRP (Sage) would be deseriable
