Neurology Veterinary Medical Assistant The Triangle's premier emergency and multi-specialty veterinary hospital is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Veterinary Medical Assistant (VMA) to join our growing neurology team. We provide 24-hour emergency service and specialty referrals in neurology, surgery, internal medicine, cardiology, oncology, diagnostic imaging, and rehabilitation. We are looking for a veterinary medical team member who wants to utilize their skills to the fullest potential in a collaborative, fun, and fast-paced environment. Members of the neurology team function with a great deal of autonomy and responsibility. Solid technical skills and knowledge base, sound judgment, and the ability to function both independently and with a team are required. The successful applicant will be organized, demonstrate strong verbal and written communication, and apply critical thinking. The neurology team treats patients with a wide variety of neurologic conditions and diseases. The primary role of the Neurology VMA is to assist the clinician and other medical team members with a variety of diagnostics and procedures. It is not required to have all the skills necessary to be a neurology VMA but a positive approach and willingness to learn is imperative. Specific Responsibilities: Assist with advanced imaging and diagnostic procedures: MRI, CSF collection, CT scans Patient preparation for neurosurgery and in some instances assist with neurosurgery; prepare anesthetic and surgical equipment/supplies for various procedures Provide nursing care to hospitalized patients and medical care for outpatients, including medication calculations and administration, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, digital radiography Maintain patient’s treatment sheets and medical records under direction of clinician Effectively communicate with clients including facilitating appointments, obtaining patient histories, client education, and phone follow-ups Maintain and care for anesthesia, neurology, and imaging equipment Ensure adequate stocking of supplies for MRI, neurology workspaces including operating room, and surgery preparation area Understand and follow hospital policies (including radiation safety, OSHA standards, biosecurity protocols, etc.) Foster a positive and collaborative work environment with all team members In addition to a competitive salary, TVRH offers a comprehensive benefits package including: Health, vision, and dental HSA and FSA Plans Short-term and long-term disability Critical Illness, Accident and Hospital Indemnity Life Insurance 401k with employer match Paid Parental Leave Internal benefits include PTO, CE PTO and allowance, uniform allowance, and veterinary services discount.
