We are looking to recruit a Medical Receptionist with excellent organisational and administrative skills, with patient care at the forefront of this role.
SHIFT PATTERN FOR THIS ROLE IS ;-
MONDAY 8AM-6PM
FRIDAY 8AM-6PM
19 HOURS PER WEEK
Medical Receptionists are expected to be compassionate and discrete with superb time management and record keeping skills. The successful applicant would need to assist in providing front-line problem solving facility, working alongside our staff and patients.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate should be confident and professional administrators with fantastic communication and interpersonal skills that will contribute to the efficient day-to-day running of a GP surgery. To work comfortably under pressure, whilst multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment and can effectively react to patient emergencies.
About us
We are a forward thinking, friendly GP surgery situated in Middlesbrough. We have 6 GPs, 4 NPs with a Practice population of approximately 11300 patients and use Systmone Software.
Acklam Medical Centre is a modern purpose built surgery situated in the centre of Acklam, Middlesbrough. Despite being a new medical centre the practice itself is well established and is progressive in the services it offers its patients.

REPORTS TO: DEPUTY/PRACTICE MANAGER
Job Summary:
Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
Provide general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone
Job Responsibilities:
Administration
1. First point of contact per patient queries. Direct access to Social Prescriber and Mental Health teams, Patient Participation Group
2. To have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures.
3. To work in accordance of written protocols
4. Filing post in medical records
5. Fax and photocopy as requested
Reception
6. Receiving patients consulting with members of Practice team
7. Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patient and checking names and address.
8. Be able to cover all reception positions as necessary
Appointments
9. Process appointment requests for today, future appointments from patients by telephone and in person.
10. Deal with visit requests
Computer
11. Registrations of new patients computer data entry and medical records.
12. Process patients change of address computer data and medical records (have knowledge of Practice area).
13. Process repeat prescription request in accordance with Practice guidelines (if necessary in absence of prescription clerks).
Telephone
14. Any other tasks allocated by managers
