The Centre for Blended Realities is building upon a 20-year immersive research legacy at Falmouth University to generate ambitious, socially engaged, and bespoke offerings that push the boundaries of media and artistic expression while simultaneously equipping and incubating a collaborative and sustainable research culture. As its activity expands, the Centre is seeking a dynamic and proactive Creative Technician who will play a key role in supporting their team. The role-holder will possess specialist knowledge in their area and bring a broad-spectrum approach to technology application within the Centre as required. We are looking for IT-literate, resourceful individual who will be able to work collaboratively and flexibly to provide technical support, demonstration, and supervision for the technical facilities, equipment, and processes for the Centre. This includes the set-up, maintenance and supply of resources and equipment, and the provision of technical assistance, induction, and advice to all users, including students, teaching and research staff, and external clients. You will be able to actively promote the services and cross-disciplinary working and will have the opportunity to contribute critical input to the skills development of those working in the Centre, including giving feedback and assessing competency on the safe use of equipment, facilities and processes. About You You will have an NQV4 qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience in one or more identified technical specialisms, and diplomatic and well-developed communication skills for engaging with students, external clients, and academics. This role requires an up-to-date knowledge of related technical practice and a commitment to continual specialist development, along with the ability to service and maintain technical facilities, equipment and processes and experience of current Health & Safety guidelines and the writing of risk assessments.
