An opportunity has arisen to join our friendly team on AMU as a Band 5 Staff Nurse.
We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic, motivated, and committed to providing high quality standards of care. You will participate in all ward activities as an effective team member, supporting senior staff and taking delegated team leadership responsibilities. You will also be responsible for assessing care needs and the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of programmes of care, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
* Ensure that research based nursing care within the ward is of a high standard and in accordance with Hospital policies and procedures. By monitoring patient care, supervising juniors, and evaluating the care that is delivered.
* Maintain individual patient care plans, evaluating and updating them as necessary to ensure that the patient's physical, social and psychological needs are met.
* Ensure that all patients' nutritional and personal hygiene needs are met.
* Adhere to strict compliance with Trust Infection Control policies and procedures and ensure junior staff and learners are aware of their responsibility, observe staff practice and advise/educate as necessary.
* Assist with the introduction and implementation of new ideas and methods of nursing care, including research methods.
* To actively seek the views of patients, carers and relatives on the care and services provided.
* Communicate effectively with relatives, patients, and other members of the multidisciplinary team as required and ensure a good public image at all times, in a sensitive manner, by keeping them up to date with progress.
* Ensure all patients have an estimated discharge date on admission and that progress is made towards that date liaising with the multidisciplinary team to ensure timely ordering of treatments etc.

The Trust's services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit and outpatient clinics.

* Current NMC Registration
* Evidence of recent CPD
* Demonstrable basic clinical skills
* Demonstrable ability to make decisions

* Evidence of successful clinical placements during training

Salary: £34,521 to £41,956 per annum (incl. of HCAA)
