Who will you be working with?
Napier Turbocharger, a Wabtec Company, is looking for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. We design, manufacture, and test industrial turbochargers for the power generation, marine, and rail traction industries.
Role: Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: LN5 7FD, Lincoln
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
How will you make a difference?
As a senior member of the Engineering team, you will be taking the lead in the design and development of new turbochargers and associated products. This involves pushing current technology as well as developing new solutions for IC and other thermal machines.
What will your typical day look like?
* The successful candidate will be working on the design of new turbochargers and associated sub-assemblies and components.
* Undertake design tasks in support of the existing product range, whether that is designing a new component variant or resolving issues encountered during turbocharger operation.
* Compile, check, and maintain technical documentation in support of their allocated design tasks.
* Support on technical projects, involving R&D, product validation, testing, and associated development.
* Interfacing with other business functions, including Commercial, Manufacturing, and Procurement.
* Input to methods development and continuous improvement initiatives.
What do we want to know about you?
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Design Engineering (or equivalent).
* Experience in using CAD tools for 3D modelling and 2D drawing and surface modelling would be advantageous.
* Able to design components, ideally castings and their subsequent machinist operations.
* Experienced with design for manufacture, assembly, and service.
* Experience with the creation and maintenance of supporting design documentation.
