We are looking for strong candidates with previous experience in managing challenging behaviour and SEMH (Social Emotional and Mental Health) needs, equipped with excellent communication skills and the ability to connect with young learners who may need extra support.
The school based in Middlesbrough is a complex pupil unit offering educational provision to KS3 and KS4 pupils who are at risk of exclusion, permanent exclusion from school, or those not attending mainstream school. They are proud to work as a community to ensure that every student makes progress and achievement while enjoying their learning. Students are usually taught in small groups of less than 10, with a teacher and teaching assistant.
This role is best suited to someone with a pastoral and SEMH/SEN background, with extensive expertise in supporting students with challenging behaviour due to their needs. The role would have an immediate start. Some of your key responsibilities may include supporting learning, individual and group support, helping prepare learning materials, and looking after the mental and physical well-being of students.
The successful SEMH Teaching Assistant will have:
* Experience in assisting young learners in education on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
* Level 2 or Level 3 qualified and/or a minimum of 6 months experience in an educational establishment
* Team Teach qualification
* A calm and caring demeanor
* Experience with challenging behaviour and resilience
