The Opportunity
We are seeking a Waste Management Consultant to join an expanding and innovative team. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of waste management strategies, with a particular focus on the development and assessment of radioactive waste inventories and characterisation data. Your work will also extend to supporting projects in decommissioning and environmental management.

This role can be based in Warrington or Cumbria.
Remuneration and Benefits
Alongside a competitive salary, you will also receive private medical insurance (Single, Partner, and Family levels), a non-contributory pension scheme, and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), increasing with years of service (up to 30).
Your Duties and Responsibilities
1. Develop creative solutions, strategies, and service offerings to better manage waste for UK and international clients.
2. Provide robust technical expertise in areas such as waste characterisation, management, production, treatment, storage, and consignment.
3. Work closely with our safety case, decommissioning, and engineering teams to deliver comprehensive services.
4. Produce high-quality technical reports, including waste strategies, management plans, and sampling plans using DQO methodology.
5. Support and guide junior colleagues to help them achieve their professional goals.
6. Contribute to business development through proposals, bids, and by implementing improvement initiatives.
You Will Have the Following Qualifications & Experience
1. BSc/MSc or BEng/MEng in nuclear engineering, decommissioning, waste management, or related fields (specialisation in nuclear preferred).
2. Proven professional and academic experience in nuclear decommissioning or waste management projects.
3. Strong understanding of UK and international legislation, policies, and best practices in radioactive waste management and characterisation.
4. An appreciation of the full lifecycle of radioactive waste from planning for decommissioning at the design phase, through to permit surrender after decommissioning and remediation.
It's Great If You Also Have the Following
1. Exceptional communication skills for client and team interactions, and experience writing impactful technical reports.
2. Willingness to travel to other company and client sites as needed.
The Setting for the Role
Risks and hazards are in line with working on a nuclear licensed site. These can include nuclear fuel, radiation, chemicals and gases, high voltage equipment, moving vehicles, flammable materials, high pressure circuits, steam, high noise and vibration levels. A full site induction will be provided and all safety requirements must be adhered to when entering the site.
