Job Overview The James Paget Hospital are looking for an enthusiastic HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to work as part of the Point of Care Testing (POCT) team. The POCT service covers the main James Paget Hospital site in Gorleston and will soon include the new Community Diagnostic Centre at Northgate Hospital in Great Yarmouth. As a registered Biomedical Scientist, the postholder will use their skills to oversee POCT devices and support the users in clinical areas, ensuring that Standard Operating Procedures are followed and Quality Controls are performed. The POCT Equipment Includes A Full Blood Count analyser, Devices for monitoring Diabetes, Blood Gas Analysers, Virology testing, Blood Coagulation testing devices Blood Chemistry tests, Urine analysis Maternity testing The postholder will receive training on the POCT devices and use their excellent communication skills to deliver training sessions to operators. Main duties of the job Organise and deliver training sessions on POCT devices. Monitor the performance of POCT devices and undertake minor maintenance and troubleshooting procedures. Promote quality and safety regulations ensuring the Trust meets the requirements of MHRA, ISO15189, relevant CQC and NHSLA standards. Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities The post holder will assist the Point of Care Coordinator in the provision of the Point of Care Testing (POCT) service in line with the Trust wide POCT policy. The post holder will work under both direct and indirect supervision in the parts of the trust that use Point of Care Testing devices. They will be proficient in the use of these devices, oversee their operation in the clinical area, ensuring that Standard Operating Procedures are followed, Quality Control and Quality Assurance is performed training and assessing users as appropriate. The post holder will support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work. Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences or equivalent Current Biomedical Scientist registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Full UK Driving Licence Good general standard of literacy Knowledge Essential Criteria Knowledge and understanding of QMS and ISO 15189.
