The post holder is one of the Pathology Senior Management & Leadership Team and will provide Strategic and Operational leadership and management to the Cellular Pathology workforce and services. Working in partnership with other members of the Directorate Management Team, the post holder will promote effective governance and ensure that the department delivers the highest standard of service. They will be responsible for ensuring all clinical and non-clinical performance indicators, targets and objectives are met in line with national and local standards. Working with the Directorate Management Team, the post holder will contribute to the development, delivery and translation of Divisional and Trust clinical service strategies, corporate and divisional objectives and the development and implementation of business plans and service developments. The post holder will take a lead role in ensuring that quality, performance, CIP and budgetary targets are monitored and improvement plans are devised and implemented where necessary to enable compliance.

Communicate clear positive messages and be able to translate highly complex information into easy to disseminate communications. Identify opportunities for growth, securing new income streams. Contribute to wider strategic planning and the development of growth plans incorporating opportunities for business development, collaborations and other potential areas. Be responsible for the setting and management of the Cellular Pathology budget within agreed financial frameworks and Trust Standing Financial Instructions. Work with the Quality Leads to ensure the service's compliance with regulatory authorities and ensure processes and action plans are in place for inspections. Ensure the delivery of joint qualitative and quantitative key performance indicators (KPls) for the service. Take responsibility for the overall co-ordination of audits and commission audits to ensure services are fit-for-purpose, competitively priced and delivered appropriately within the service delivery remit. Provide up-to-date and meaningful information for the Pathology Management Board and to other senior management teams outside Pathology. Ensure that appropriately skilled and supported staff are identified to act as the CSPL for the Trust for the NHS cervical screening programme. Reporting to the Chief Executive or their nominated deputy on behalf of the CE via the Pathology Management Board.

1. •Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in Pathology. •Recognised professional post graduate qualification in management or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience to master's level or equivalent. •Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development. •Experience of successful specialty (Pathology) operational management. •Evidence of leading and managing change within a complex environment. •Robust negotiating and performance management skills. •Experience of strategic and service planning for a Pathology specialty. •Skilled in implementing change programmes. •Ability to translate complex systems, user requirements and corporate priorities into robust implementation plans. •Evidence of meeting challenging operational and service objectives. •Experience of working at a senior level in an acute NHS hospital. •Understanding of the complex strategic environment and understanding of the commissioning agenda
