A bit about the role Norfolk early childhood and family service is dedicated to providing targeted support for families with children aged zero to five years. Our services encompass a wide range of childhood resources for parents, prospective parents, and young children, focusing on key areas such as bonding, speech and language development, parenting challenges, mental well-being, and fostering healthy relationships. We offer engaging stay and play sessions and parenting courses designed to empower families. In this role, the family support worker will be responsible for running these sessions, ensuring that families receive the guidance and support they need. Please note that travel is a requirement for this position, as you will be working across South Norfolk district, with the possibility of occasionally working in neighbouring districts. About the service Our Early Childhood and Family Service (ECFS) provides vital information, support, and advice to families with young children across Norfolk. Funded by Norfolk County Council and in partnership with Action for Children, we have replaced the previous Norfolk's children's centre service for children aged five years. Our services are delivered from venues such as libraries, community centres, and schools as well as from ECFS Services throughout the county. Additionally, one to one sessions can take place in comfortable settings chosen by families including their homes cafes and other familiar locations. How you'll help to create brighter futures You will be part of a supportive and dedicated team with opportunities for development. You will make a difference by: Supporting the development of children by creating fun and stimulating environments to enhance skills and promote emotional resilience and positive behaviour. Providing rich learning environments where children and their families can engage in stimulating play opportunities. Facilitating interventions one to one or in a group to support identified areas of need e.g., infant massage, speech, and language development. Being alert to child protection and safeguarding issues and inform appropriate line managers. Engaging in local community groups to promote the service and support families to access targeted support. Form local partnerships with early years settings, libraries, and GPs to promote the service and support families to access targeted support. Let's talk about you. Experience of delivering one to one or group support to children and families using the early years foundation stage (or similar). Good I.T skills and ability to record concise, accurate case notes. Ability to build safe and effective working relationships with vulnerable young children and adults. Ability and willingness to work in a variety of premises across the county (the role will be required to work across more than one district at times), therefore use of a vehicle is essential.
