Research Development Manager (International / EU)
The University is looking to create a step-change in its research performance through growing its market share of strategic international research grants. An exciting opportunity has therefore arisen for a strategic, creative, and research target-driven Research Development Manager (International / EU) to join the RIS Research Development Team. This new post will be key to help us deliver our ambitions to support the transformation of our international research capacity and build our research excellence as well as grow our research income including that from international funders and in particular the EU.
The postholder will be responsible for providing research development support aimed at assisting our researchers in securing high-level external international/EU research and related funding including exploring NIH and international Foundations and industry funding. They will be a dynamic professional, influencer, and collaborator, able to build effective relationships in the international and EU arena.
Working across the University the Research Development Manager (International / EU) will:
1. Proactively drive, develop and maintain close relationships with as well as facilitate informed direct relationships with and between international funders (the EU in particular), partner organisations, policy makers and key University personnel for the purposes of influencing strategies / programmes / policies and funding opportunities on the global stage.
2. Identify areas of significant strength in the University and develop short-, medium- and long term plans for strategic international / EU research funding and investment to support and grow our capacity in those areas.
3. Identify as well as maximise on potential large international strategic research funding opportunities and streams for the University, and design and deliver processes and procedures to enable our academic community to respond to these strategic international funding opportunities effectively.
4. Develop a pipeline of bids in response to relevant international / EU calls and opportunities; project manage major strategic international (incl. EU) bids; drive and support pre-bid consortia building with internal and external stakeholders; and write and develop business cases to secure major, multi-million pounds global institutional investments for research and innovation, priming and growing the University of Dundee international research capacity.
