1. Collect examination papers from the Examinations Office and take directly to the room where the examination is to be held. 2. Ensure the examination room is set up correctly. Invigilators must ensure candidates can see the clock and whiteboard at all times during the examination. 3. Record candidate attendance and complete a seating plan (both documents are provided). 4. Direct candidates on the timing and procedure of the examination. 5. For online exams, to ensure that the students can log-on to the secure site correctly and at that examining body procedures are followed at all times. 6. Ensure the examination is started and closed at the correct time. 7. Supervise candidates throughout the examination. 8. Collect all the exam papers at the end of the examination and return them to the Examinations Office or alternative venue as specified. 9. Ensure that an Examination Officer (or his/her nominee), signs for receipt of all documents relating to the exam. 10. Act as a scribe or a reader for students when required. 11. Invigilators may be required to act as a 'floater' where they will support a number of exams running simultaneously. The floater moves from room to room, providing support where required. The list of duties is not exhaustive but outlines the main features of the post at appointment and may vary as the job evolves without affecting the nature of the duties or the responsibility level.
Any offers of appointment will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (formerly CRB), a certificate of good conduct if applicable, plus receipt of satisfactory references, Occupational Health clearance, an understanding of safeguarding and qualifications verification. An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position as you will be working within 'Regulated Activity' within a specific place (i.e. the College). This role is classed as working within Regulated Activity. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children. * Experience of using Microsoft Office packages, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
* Ability to drive and access to a car as travel between the sites will be required.
* Working knowledge of information technology such as e-mail, the internet and other software applications.
* Excellent administrative and organisational skills
Desirable Attainments:
* Either GCSE Grade C or above in English and Mathematics or Level 2 equivalent/higher qualification
* Relevant experience, such as invigilating in a school or FE institution or similar.
* Previous work experience which requires being well organised and methodical.
