Package: £34,000 - £44,000 (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience)

AWE is currently recruiting for a Lead Material Controller for the Logistics and Transportation Group
This role is ideally suited to a driven and focused individual with a background in Material Management who enjoys working in a challenging but rewarding environment. At AWE we have a mixture of warhead related stock, critical spares and other stock items within our Warehousing and storage areas. To maintain contractual compliance, we need to ensure that we can demonstrate good material control of these assets - incoming / outgoing and whilst held on our Sites.
It is therefore of paramount importance that we are able to drive the right behaviours through policy, standards and procedures as well as interrogating data and producing metrics for upward reporting
Working within the Logistics and Transportation Group the successful candidate will be required to provide support through Capability Management analysing data, reporting on outcomes, resolve issues and maintain data accuracy.

Who are we looking for?
We do need you to have the following:
* Experience in working in a fast-paced environment
* Excellent IT and analytical skills to analyse and interrogate data, issue resolution, data accuracy and produce graphical outputs / metrics and presentation material.
* Experience using a wide range of Microsoft applications including SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
* Focus on delivery with an exemplar attention to detail supporting compliance of our inventories and storage capacity
* Experience in working in an environment fulfilling demands from internal and external customers
Whilst not to be considered a tick list, we\\\'d like you to have experience in some of the following:
* Through Life Material Management
* Working in a Ministry of Defence environment
* Excellent IT skills and experience in all Microsoft packages and Warehousing and Inventory Management Systems
You\\\'ll need to have the ability to work calmly and constructively in a priority changing environment and be able to manage your own workload. You will also have initiative, enthusiasm, a flexible approach, and ability to work to tight deadlines.
Key Accountabilities:
* Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and be a great team player.
* Leading, coaching and developing a team of material Controllers to effect material control operations - goods in processing, warehousing, distribution and verification activities.
* Adopt a \\\'See It, Own It, Solve It\\\' mind-set, by identifying obstacles to success and taking ownership to find solutions to those problems.
* Management of Logistics and Material programme deliverables such as ensuring that all cycle count activities are initiated in accordance with the audit plan, look ahead and deconflicted against all other activities and Facility outages.
* Material Control interface and logistics liaison with customers and suppliers in all aspects of logistics and material management activities accountable for.
* Deliver team accountability boards encouraging full participation and collation of activities to support the business material health in readiness to deliver the program and/or meet operational needs.
* Actively deputise for Material Seniors/Managers including the participation in management meetings presenting status updates and reports on the health of material control within each business area taking on board areas of concern for escalation.
* Actively lead a Logistics and Material Control team, and undertake activities such as, annual audits of stock against the program as initiated by the centralised audit and assurance team.
* Senior user for recognised corporate systems for all aspects of material control providing super user capability as SME for tracking, analysis of movements and holdings, validation, investigation and escalation of discrepancies, produce management reports for Senior Management.
* Senior User / owner of a variety of business applications across the wider non-nuclear Operations group to conduct data analytics for the purpose of accuracy and characterisation of assets supporting material control teams across the business.
* Support Group Leader Non-Nuclear Material Operations and Logistics Capability Manager in any ad hoc data analysing / metric development / presentation material that is required.
Key Responsibilities:
* Day to day leadership of Logistics and Material Control operations ensuring that all inventory is managed appropriately.
* Responsible for ensuring that the standards of peoples training and competence for the safe operation of tasks within the area are met and encouraging staff development through coaching and mentoring.
* Ensure that movement of any material is conducted in a safe and secure manner complying with process for transportation nationally, internationally and dangerous goods moves.
* Whether supporting the program or operational need ensure that through life plans for material and components are enacted as well as maintaining stock replenishment mechanisms.
* Maximise stores/warehouse layout to improve efficiency and conformance to ISO requirements. Maintain a tidy and safe stores/warehouse area in accordance with company standards (Safe, Secure & Clean).
* Support each business area through knowledge, systems available and other subject matter expertise for the identification of components.
* Ensure that all localised documentation relevant to the workplace such as risk assessments, safe systems of work (SSOW) ensuring compliance with safety, security and legislative requirements is maintained.
* Management of Company vehicles (fleet) within area of responsibility - transport liaison officer (TLO) including the vehicle refuelling point. Management of POL Station including monitoring and fuel usage levels (where applicable).
* Develop verification/cycle count activities in the wider controllable asset arena such as IT Hardware Assets, Personal Inventory and Fixed Assets (Capitalised).
* Maintain a sound auditable trail of all logistics and material control activities to relevant standards and investigations into discrepancies and evidence of resolution.
* Resolve and/or escalate any material control related issues including root cause analysis.
* Actively participate in audit activity ensuring that all relevant areas are ready for scrutiny, deconfliction of operations and facility outages and that all involved are communicated to effectively.
* Supporting the disposition process through sentencing ensuring that formal process is adhered to and that accurate record keeping on corporate systems as items are dispatched for disposal.
* Respond to customer requests in a polite and helpful manner maintaining professionalism at all times as expected within the employee blueprint.
* The Company may require you to fulfil any other reasonable duties aligned to your position from time to time in line with business needs.
* The tasks within this Job Profile is for working within the UK or overseas, as per joint consultation and in accordance with your Contract of Employment.
* Day to day Management of warehousing operations ensuring that all inventory and stock assigned space, including any offsite contracted locations, is managed appropriately, segregating and separating goods as necessary.
* Leadership of Material Specialists delivering a range of activities supporting Non-Nuclear Material Operations ensuring that they have a clear path of direction and deliver outputs on time and to a high standard of accuracy.
* Produce a range of infographics, reports, tables and graphs for inclusion in performance dashboards to support Non-Nuclear Material Operations and the wider Logistics capability ultimately focusing on future readiness in support of the programme
* Actively participate in audit activity ensuring that data for validation is prepared, all relevant areas are ready for scrutiny,
* deconfliction of operations and facility outages, all involved are communicated to and metrics on progress and material is prepared for upward reporting
* As a Senior user keep up to date with various business systems and application development for efficient and effective data analytics as well as maintaining capability for the wider business.
* Maintain SharePoint site ownership for shared working and dissemination of information.
* Identify issues quickly, investigating and solving complex problems and applying appropriate solutions ensuring the true root cause of any problem is found and a solution is identified which prevents recurrence.

Due to the classified nature of the work involved, there are limited opportunities to work from home in this role. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will spend the majority of their time working on site at AWE Aldermaston.
