Job description
Part Time - 18.5 hours per week, Permanent
Help Bristol City Council strive for excellence.
This is an exciting and challenging position that will contribute to even better ways of working in Bristol City Council - a high-performing local authority, with a clear ambition to deliver a great quality of life for every resident.
We believe that every public service should deliver exceptional value-for-money, and with you in our team, we will be one step closer to achieving that goal. Based in our Internal Audit Service, you will work as part of a team leading audits of both internal directorates and external contracts. With plenty of scope for ongoing professional development as you take ownership of multiple projects, your remit could extend from project work and procurement audit to systems analysis and interrogation. What that equates to is a wealth of opportunity to prove and extend your expertise - putting your career on the most exciting path.
Create sustainable social impact with your sharp eye for detail.
We have a vision of supporting effective and efficient service delivery for Bristol's residents. And you will be at the heart of this ambition. In a multi-layered role that will include reviewing internal control, risk management and governance arrangements; you will assess our systems and controls, determining where the weaknesses are, and helping management teams agree on the actions that they need to take. With the chance to learn from day one, this is a fantastic position for someone who is keen to develop their career and is hungry to achieve more.
You will be encouraged to tackle special assignments that will require creative thinking. Working both as part of the team and on your own, you must be able to demonstrate initiative, a commitment to high quality, good time management and an excellent standard of customer service.
Dare to dream bigger at Bristol City Council.
To make the most of this exciting opportunity, you will be a team player with the ability to work off your own initiative.
Your technical skills will be supported by the possession of a full professional qualification - IIA/CCAB and you will be keen to further your career with our exceptional development opportunities! Crucially, we will expect you to have experience of working in an audit or financial management role, or you will have a relevant background in an internal control, risk or governance environment. With a good knowledge of modern approaches to audit, internal control and risk management, you will have comprehensive IT skills, and you will be capable of meeting deadlines.
As you will be dealing with service professionals, you will bring great communication skills to the role, and you will be willing to adapt to the needs of the team.
