The Vacancy We are looking for a Service Supervisor to join our team in Muir of Ord. As a Service Supervisor you will be responsible for leading a talented team of engineers and apprentices. You will play a vital role in the business as you will be first point of contact with our customers, therefore, you must show excellent communication and organisational skills. Who are we? We sold our first machine in 1956 and have grown into a highly specialised machinery distribution company operating through a network of 17 depots from Fraserburgh in the North East of Scotland to Carnforth in Lancashire. Key duties and responsibilities: Answer service calls, book in and price work Organise and distribute work and job cards to engineers and apprentices in a timely manner Review job cards and work closely with the warranty team Work in line with capacity planning Manage work in progress Approve daily timesheets Organise routine servicing and monthly inspections on stock machines Organise the emptying of skips and removal of waste oil and filters Order and organise workshop tools, sundries Maintain safety standards and implementations of company policy and procedures Conduct risk assessments Invoice jobs in a timely fashion; 3 days for warranty,10 days for retail, no jobs older than 60 days Work to company response times; breakdowns in 4 hours, routine repairs in 2 days, services in 7 days Complete monthly depot and van inspections with the support of the Assistant Supervisors Ensure all staff have dedicated training and support Conduct employee reviews and appraisals Manage employee absence and performance with HR support Assist HR with the recruitment process, reviewing CVs and conducting interviews Behaviours: Confidently lead a team of engineers and apprentices Develop and manage the team to strengthen productivity and quality control in the workshop Support engineers with technical queries and problem solving Mentor the apprentice engineers and keep up to date with their college requirements Work closely with the parts and sales teams Ensure compliance with all health and safety procedures and promote a safe working environment Maintain a clean and tidy depot, workshop, and engineer vans Skills and Knowledge: Relevant experience and qualifications e.g., City and Guild, NVQ or SVQ qualifications in an engineering discipline At least three years’ experience as a technician Experience in construction plant, diesel engines, electrics, hydraulics, transmissions, and fault finding using electronic diagnostic equipment Ability to prioritise tasks and work well in a busy environment, plus strong attention to detail Great customer service skills and the ability to build rapport with our customers Good IT skills and working knowledge of Microsoft applications In return you will receive: Competitive salary reviewed yearly Average holiday pay to reflect overtime worked 30 days annual leave, increasing with length of service up to a total of 35 days The option to buy/sell up to 5 days annual leave per year Company vehicle which can be used for private use in line with HMRC guidance Laptop, phone, uniform and overalls Health and wellbeing plan - cashback for dentist, opticians, physio and more Employee Assistance Programme - free counselling and legal advice Access to high street discounts and savings through Perks Contributory pension scheme Life assurance of three times your annual salary Employee referral programme JCB and in-house training
