Job Description
Role description: This role will impact the laboratory's efficiency by providing essential support for computer troubleshooting, device connectivity, network issues, and laboratory software issues. The candidate will work with cutting-edge technology in the scientific industry.
Outstanding computer troubleshooting skills for obscure issues, including device connectivity, network issues, and laboratory software issues are required.
Background with End-user Computing or Desktop Support skills is essential, as Break/Fix constitutes 80% of a Lab Engineer's workload.
Understanding of networking concepts, such as network topology, VLANs, static/dynamic IPs, subnetting, IT/OT networks, and basic understanding of firewalls is necessary.
Candidates should be familiar with the OSI model and how to troubleshoot different network layers.
Knowledge and understanding of Active Directory are required.
D2D and/or project support experience is expected.
AGILE methodologies are necessary.
A background in computer security is beneficial.
Previous experience with validated systems (GxP) is a plus.
The candidate will implement validated data backup solutions on laboratory analytical equipment, including equipment and software investigation, documentation, and technical configuration within R&D (GxP and non-GxP).
Support for scientists in incident management, user support, coaching, and access management is required.
Testing and validation of computer software, including completing tests in different environments and writing technical documentation, is expected.
Familiarity with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow is required.
Microsoft Excel skills are a plus.
In-depth knowledge of Microsoft OS, including iOS and Linux, is advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist in maintaining existing computer infrastructure of 5000 PCs globally.
2. Image/onboard new computers into the domain and onto the network.
3. Secure and protect new and existing hardware.
4. Consult with scientists as they require assistance with their equipment.
5. Troubleshoot and implement data flows for scientific instruments.
