Role: Assistant Purchase Ledger Team Leader Location: Trust Head Office Start Date: ASAP Interview Date: TBC Hours: 37 hours per week, 8:30am - 4:30pm Monday to Thursday,8:30am - 4:00pm Friday, all year around Salary: Grade 5 and scale point range 11 - 17, hourly rate £14.13 - £15.58, £27,269 - £30,060 About the Role: As the Assistant Purchase Ledger Team Leader, you will play a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely payment of suppliers while supporting the Purchase Ledger Team Leader in managing the team and maintaining compliance with internal controls. This is a fantastic opportunity for a detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of financial procedures to contribute to a thriving educational Trust. Key Responsibilities: Support the Purchase Ledger Team Leader in ensuring all supplier payments are accurate and timely. Assist in workload allocation, team development, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Ensure compliance with fraud prevention measures and HMRC regulations. Support and deliver training on the No Purchase Order, No Pay process. Participate actively in weekly team meetings. Undertake day-to-day purchase ledger activities, ensuring seamless service across the Trust. Prepare and manage the weekly BACS run, resolving any related queries. Oversee the Central Energy Database, ensuring accurate records and timely query resolution. Monitor invoice processing and provide regular updates to the Team Lead. Ensure proper setup and verification of new suppliers in the finance system. Assist in audits by providing necessary information to internal and external auditors. Provide cover for the Team Lead when required. What We’re Looking For: Experience in purchase ledger management or a similar finance role. Strong understanding of financial processes and controls. Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively within a team and provide leadership support. Knowledge of HMRC requirements and fraud prevention best practices. Confident communicator, able to provide training and support to colleagues.
