We wish to appoint a qualified Plumber/Gas Engineer to be part of a small multi-skilled team. The successful candidate will carry out plumbing/gas maintenance as required on domestic and commercial systems.
Main duties and responsibilities
* To carry out tasks as directed by the Head of Site Management & Safety and/or the Director of Operations.
* To work on domestic & commercial systems.
* Installation of pipework, waste systems, sanitary systems. Maintain, service and install heating systems.
* Ability to carry out minor surveys and inspections.
* To perform planned preventative and reactive maintenance tasks on all associated water and gas services equipment, including fault diagnostics and repair.
* To work in confined and underground spaces, on occasion.
* To maintain the School’s drainage system.
* To take all steps necessary to ensure his/her own safety and the safety of others in carrying out work.
* To promote best practice in meeting the requirements of Health and Safety legislation and complying with other relevant statutory legislation.
* To participate in an Emergency Call Out Service as required.
* To undertake training to acquire and maintain skill levels in keeping with the requirements of the job.
* To assist with other duties which may reasonably be requested by the Head of Site Management & Safety and/or the Director of Operations.
Other
* Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety, security, confidentiality and data protection, relating all concerns to the appropriate person.
* Appreciate and support the role of other professionals.
* Attend and participate in relevant meetings and training as required.
* Undertake evening and weekend work as required.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualifications/Education/Training
* Time served tradesperson (5 years) E
* Qualified Gas Engineer with relevant City & Guilds / ONC qualification or equivalent E
* ACS Qualified E
* Domestic & Commercial Qualifications E
* Sound health and safety knowledge and good understanding of the Risk Assessment process, Asbestos Awareness and job related safety awareness E
Experience
* Experience of fault finding and repair E
* Experience of installation of pipework, waste systems, sanitary systems, and heating systems E
* Knowledge of safe working practices and procedures within a workshop environment E
Skills and competencies
* Good communication skills E
* Ability to read, understand and interpret written instructions or drawings and complete necessary paperwork E
* Capable, and willing, to offer both technical and practical support to a trainee/apprentice if required E

The salary is £29,907 plus a £1,200 call out allowance for the year (a total salary of £31,107 per year).
