In this role, you will be an integral member of the engineering team, responsible for developing, approving, managing, and executing comprehensive test and validation plans. These plans will support New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives, as well as sustainment activities and testing for existing product lines.
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure all products meet required specifications and performance standards, contributing to the successful introduction of new products and the ongoing support and improvement of existing ones.
Key Responsibilities: Working with Senior Design Engineers and Design Engineers to verify and validate products through analytical and physical test methods Manage test facilities, ensuring the safe use of equipment, correct training, maintenance, calibration, and servicing. Oversee the training and operation of the test facilities by other users, ensuring compliance with best practices and safety standards. Support NPI/Quality teams in the final testing and approval of production units, ensuring all products meet the required specifications. Develop test plans, procedures, and execute product tests, ensuring that all findings are thoroughly recorded and effectively communicated. Assist in the preparation and updating of Design Validation Plan (DVP) documents, incorporating the relevant supporting data. Prepare test samples and associated documentation/reports in accordance with testing requirements. Design, develop, implement, and/or configure test equipment for bespoke testing needs. Conduct physical tests to support development validation and pre-submission requirements, ensuring rigorous evaluation. Ensure the timely development, monitoring, and enhancement of robust test systems throughout the product lifecycle. Execute and report competitor product analysis to inform product development and strategic positioning. Understand and apply the requirements of regulatory standards as they relate to product design, validation, and verification. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory standards for contemporary respirators and relevant technologies, ensuring compliance throughout the process. Identify new test procedures required by updated or newly created standards, ensuring adherence to evolving regulatory demands. Continuously develop personal expertise in testing and validation methods, enhancing the companys internal test capabilities while leveraging external lab capabilities as appropriate. Prepare and maintain development documentation in compliance with ISO9001 throughout the design process, in accordance with the companys development process. Foster strong communication with cross-functional teams, functional managers, customers, approval bodies, independent testing facilities, and suppliers to drive project success
Ideal Candidate:Essential: Experience in mechanical test environments or closely related fields. Practical hands-on experience in product testing and prototype manufacturing. Proficient in preparing test documentation and generating detailed reports. Strong working knowledge of PC-based word processing and spreadsheet software. Ability to work in a structured and controlled manner, even under pressure. Self-motivated with excellent time-management skills, able to manage tasks independently. Knowledge of robust test plan generation, including design of experiments. A positive "can-do" attitude, with a strong attention to detail. Prior experience within a development and validation function with bespoke test methods and procedures
Desirable: Familiarity with MINITAB statistical software. Experience with SolidWorks CAD Suite.
Education: Minimum of HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
